Sixteen year old Jack Stanley wanted to do something to help out people who are struggling in his local area of Little Hulton. Using his own money, he put together a Chocolate hamper and decided to raffle it off at £2 per ticket. Jack posted this on Facebook and within one hour all 150 tickets were sold.
Jack decided to donate the £300 proceeds to the Food bank at Wharton & Cleggs Lane Church and handed over the money to Rev Sarah Knebel, Minister at our church and Margaret Parry, Food bank Manager.
Jack was accompanied by mum Steph, nanna Barbara and older sister Morgan when he presented the money to Rev Sarah in the new church hall. “What a wonderful, kind and caring gesture,” commented Sarah, “particularly coming from someone so young. To recognise that local people are in need and be prepared to do something to support them is a fantastic gesture and Jack's family must be so proud of him.”
Jack won the hearts of the nation when appearing in the TV series Educating Greater Manchester, set in Harrop Fold School in Little Hulton, when he befriended and took under his wing new boy Rani. Jack's older sister Morgan is also featured as one of the stars of the series.
Jack is also a talented cricketer, following in the footsteps of of his father Mark and Uncle Ian who have both played cricket for Little Hulton for many years. After playing for Little Hulton for the past few years, Jack is taking on a new challenge next season, when he will play for Southport & Birkdale in the tough Liverpool Competition league. Early order batsman Jack has also captained the Lancashire County junior teams since the age of ten.
