The Gardening Group have been active for a number of years and currently meet every Tuesday. We are at a very exciting time as we merge with and welcome Peel Patches on board. The joining of the two groups will allow us to strengthen our volunteer army and get the site looking amazing. A design and plans for the site have been drawn up and we are now all systems go in the garden; improving the site to meet the needs of the local community. There are a number of raised beds for planting, fruit bushes, trees, shrubs, a poly-tunnel and lawned areas.
We have volunteers of all ages, social backgrounds and with a range of gardening knowledge. We aren’t just about the gardening…we are here to support you however we can. Through the gardening group we support some of our volunteers who have a variety of mental health issues and may be socially isolated. Becoming actively involved in the Gardening Group, volunteers feel more connected to the wider community and are able to form social networks.
The Gardening group has received ongoing support from the Outreach Team linked to RHS Garden Bridgewater. RHS Community Outreach is working with the gardening group and church to share the benefits and opportunities of gardening with the local community.
Would you like to volunteer with us? Would you like to widen your social circle and have some banter whilst making your community a brighter space? Come down and meet our friendly team and take a look at what we’re all about…we would love to see you.
